The general recommendation for most people would be a bi-annual check-up. Even though this is the general standard, it can vary. Oral care at home is a more substantial determining factor, this includes what you choose to eat on a daily basis and if you floss when you brush your teeth.
For example, someone who regularly snacks on sticky toffee sweets in comparison to someone who snacks on apples may not need to come in for cleaning at the same frequency. That is one example, but there are plenty of other possible reasons for different people.
Flossing isn’t just for dislodging food wedged between your teeth. Regular flossing may also reduce gum disease and bad breath by removing plaque that forms along the gum line. It’s best to floss before brushing your teeth.
The Proper Way to Brush Your Teeth
Step 1: Start with the outer surfaces of your teeth. Take your time!
Step 2: Tilt your brush at a 45° angle.
Step 3: Brush the inner surface of your teeth.
Step 4: Clean the chewing surfaces of your teeth.
Taking a child to the dentist early is the first step towards keeping tooth decay away. Also, it gives a child a chance to familiarize themselves with the environment, thus reducing fear. We recommend that they should be brought in as soon as their first tooth comes in. This is usually around 6 months.
Also, if you notice anything abnormal like bleeding, cavity, lesions or the child complains of discomfort.
